BROCKHAMPTON Hit Up Like A Version
The most interesting boyband of the moment, BROCKHAMPTON, were the guests for Triple J's Like A Version this morning, and their performance can only be described as weirdly good.
Filmed when they were in the country a few weeks ago on the Listen Out tour, the collective performed their track 'SAN MARCOS', along with a cover of Alicia Keys' 'Un-thinkable (I'm Ready)'.
Their performance of 'SAN MARCOS' is arguably better than the recorded version that appears on their latest album, IRIDESCENCE. The addition of female backing singers is spine-shiveringly good. For anyone who was at the band's Sydney show, it'll bring back strong memories of the impromptu acapella singalong that occurred between the main set and the encore. While Merlyn might be looking pretty unhappy, this one is sure to please fans.
The cover is where it really gets interesting. Bearface, aka Ciarán McDonald, takes control of the show. He paces around the room singing while reading the lyrics from his phone, as the rest of the group sit and lay on the floor doing nothing. It's the latest instalment of BROCKHAMPTON turning a recorded performance into some sort of performance art - their set on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon saw them sitting on the floor looking sad while they performed. It's definitely not the best Like A Version we've seen so far this year, but it is one of the most memorable.
