Sculpted | Tobiahs
Enigmatic young producer Tobiahs is back with another song to get you grooving.
With a finalist spot in Triple J's DMA's Remix Comp and production credits with Baker Boy and Kian under his belt, 2018 has already been a pretty big year for the 20-year-old. 'Sculpted' is the second official track we've heard from him this year, and it's by far his most complex. Clocking in at three minutes, it's still the low-key electronica we loved in previous offerings 'Through To You' and 'To Be Honest'.
The opening 20 seconds could easily be taken from a Hayden James or Odesza track, but once it gets going it's clear Tobiahs is forging his own path. It's more vocal driven than the other tracks we've heard from him, which relied more on his strong production skills. As vocalist Jerome Farah (of Jakubi fame) mixes his dulcet tones with a female vocalist, it's hard not to get a UK dance vibe à la Mura Masa.
'Sculpted' has a real sunset summer feel, and it's very likely we'll be hearing it a lot over the next few months. With a debut EP on the horizon, it looks like 2019 could finally be Tobiahs' year.
